It took less than six months for the original recording members of THE BLACK HEART GOSPEL to come together and play that first note, that first snare hit and write the first word. They have since written and recorded 4 award worthy songs with a chemistry that can only be challenged by whatever it is that fills the air by exit 14 on the NJ Turnpike.

Thanks in part to Covid and the world being sidelined for over a year, the long road to a return is here. Although Gospel is still in it's infant stage, these guys have been a staple in the NJ scene since the late 90's. In one form or another they have shared the stage with Buckcherry, Quiet Riot, Life Of Agony, Ill Nino, OverKill and many others. Their
Wasteland America EP  left big shoes almost impossible to fill .  Not backing down from a challenge new songs, HADES HOTTIE, LOVE SONG, THE SAME, WEDDING BELLS along with covers TRAIN TRAIN and CHIP AWAY AT THE STONE show these guys can step up to the plate and do what needs to be done.

The Black Heart Gospel's foundation was laid with the lyrics and melodies written by Pete Colvin. Once satisfied with his work, long time friend and guitarist, Stan Chan, came in and added his no less than genius guitars to complete the music that is known as The Black Heart Gospel. Only to compliment what Stan and Pete had accomplished, vocalist Todd Knowlden entered to complete TBHG's Wasteland America EP line-up.

What was to be a one time EP recording, quickly grew to a highly acclaimed musical offering that drew the attention of record labels both in the US and overseas. Although the labels didn't pan out the desire did. So after almost a two year Covid shutdown, Todd and Pete decided to make a few calls. Replacing the genius of Stan was an almost impossible task but luckily lightning struck twice and the boys brought in guitarist Frank Brooks.  The final step was to to bring in the solid and driving stylings of  Paul Gowa (bass) to solidify the Gospel lineup today.

Described as "lyrically strong and insanely well constructed" by Andy Davis (HEAVY METAL TIME MACHINE), their Wasteland America EP includes the title track Wasteland America, and the empowering, anti-bullying  Scary which was described to be a song that will "flail your skin off with the brutal shreds" by PROJECT METAL MUSIC . Also included are Before My Eyes, the bands darker view on life and death and the drama fueled ass kicker “The Growing Unknown”. TBHG and Wasteland America will stand among today’s best with it’s can’t miss infectious rhythms, catchy hooks and intelligent song writing. Hands down, one to be reckoned with. On how the band came about, from their recent interview in ITN Magazine:

Pete- I was in a band with all these guys at one point or another. Each band had its run, each band had its highs and lows. It was months after the last band Mark and I was in. I remember not much going on, just working on a new song and I thought, what if I could take the best parts of my past bands and put together something great (luckily these guys went for it).

Stan- A few months back Pete and I were entertaining the idea of writing together and decided to put it into motion. He then pulled in Todd and the band was formed shortly after the 2nd song was written.

Stay tuned.... Great things to come.
